Supervision

What is supervision ?

What is supervision ? - Dolphins in the Desert

Supervision is truly a journey of initiation.

The experiences we have are often a mirror of something which we have repressed, and we aren’t always sufficeintly detached to be able to evaluate a situation objectively. Most of the time we unconsciously repeat patterns of behaviour and we guage our interpersonal relationships by how we have previously learnt to act.

In the field of supervision it is impossible to separate the voyage of the spirit from the voyage of roles. This is why the sphere of supervision is an important sphere of healing, allowing for the harmonizing of core values and professional position.

In that capacity, supervision is a sacred space offering the ability to listen with timeless understanding. It allows one to connect to a field as big as the universe, where the supervisor’s reasoning is powerful without being forceful.

As a supervisor, I often find myself keeping space for people who themselves are keeping space for others. Keeping space is allowing others to have confidence in their own intuition and their own wisdom, it’s letting them feel secure enough to fail, it’s supporting someone else with humility and an open heart, it’s enlarging the field of possibilities ad infinitum.

Within supervision, keeping space is letting new fields of consciousness grow.

Individual and group supervision

Trainer supervision accelerates the development of the “Internal Supervisor” by working directly upon the internal system of the trainer: intuition, physical responses, energy exchanges between client and trainer, perceptions.

It allows the trainer to consciously develop by gaining a more accurate understanding of his clients.

It’s a regulatory support which allows him to step back and see the bigger picture, within a space of professionalization. It allows you to stand back, to share and to confront opinions and develop expertise.

Recommended in training courses and required by professional federations and organizations, supervision is more and more becoming an essential way of finding a balance between work skills and life skills.  It’s thus a way of finding your role and taking your place.

Individual supervision can be conducted face-to-face or via skype according to the individual’s availability.

Group supervision takes place over several months with the same work group and follows an agenda which has been agreed previously.

Whatever form is adopted, a preliminary interview with your supervisor should be planned in order to clarify goals, logistics and obligations.
